Differential diagnosis of pseudohypercalcaemia by measurement of ionised calcium

Pseudohypercalcaemia is defined as an elevated total calcium level coincidental with a normal ionised calcium level. This rare phenomenon occurs in monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS).
